It's been a few days since I've posted.
I found out earlier in the week that my cousin from Florida, Jason, and his new wife, Heather, are expecting their first baby. He's the sweetest thing and I'm just tickled for them. Jason and I are only 2 months apart and we practically grew up together. He is in the Army (I think) and will go active duty again in January. The baby is due mid-April and he doesn't expect that he'll be home for the delivery....How sad!!! Please say a prayer for them both...That she will be able to find strength in a difficult time...and that God will bring him home safely.
Dani is feeling better...But now Billy has this nasty cold. He missed school yesterday and today. He doesn't feel that bad (as long as I keep him medicated) but he had a fever last night and I can't send him to school until it's been 24 hours. He hasn't run a fever today so hopefully it won't return overnight. I picked up his missed assignments...so at least he won't be behind.
So, the last 2 days have been spent trying to keep Billy and Dani entertained. Play-Doh, puzzles, coloring, dress-up...I haven't gotten much else accomplished. I think I will send Dani to Debb's (the little in-home daycare friend of mine) tomorrow...just so that I can' get something done. Plus, she really loves paying with the kids. I bought 200 tulip bulbs and I'm anxious to get them planted. We will see....
Dani had her 18-month check-up on Monday. She's doing great! 89% for height and 56% for weight. She got 2 vaccines. The pediatrician was amazed with her vocabulary. She is such a nut!!!
Then, right after Dani's appointment...Millie was outside on the deck and we noticed her top lip was all swollen and she was covered in welts. She'd obviously been stung by something. The bees and wasps are SO bad this year. I called the vet and they wanted to see her right away. So...Off we went again. $88 and 3 shots later...She's fine. She goes back in on Tuesday morning to be spayed. It's always something!! :o)
Friday night we're getting a sitter and going out to dinner with another couple. As horrible as it sounds...I'm looking forward to a few hours of being childless. :o) I shouldn't complain...I'm very blessed and I honestly wouldn't want it any other way.
Well...I can't think of anything else right now. I'll talk to ya later! :o)
I love quiet Sundays....Especially during football season. For some odd reason...The calories that I consume while vegging on the couch and watching a ballgame...Don't make me feel as guilty. Hmmm...
So, Dan and Dani went to pick up ButterBurgers and frozen custard shakes from Culvers for lunch. For those of you that have never heard of or eaten at a Culvers...I feel so sorry for you. For those of you that HAVE eaten at Culvers...I bet your mouth is watering right now!
We have friends that are expecting their first baby on Thanksgiving day. They are stopping by later to pick up the crib and the changing table. I never thought I'd see the day...but I'm getting rid of all of the baby stuff. 3 kids is enough for me!!!
Speaking of the kids...Dani is feeling much better. She hasn't run a fever since Friday. She still has a cough and a runny nose....But it's not slowing her down any. Unfortunately, Dan and I have picked up the bug. Oh well...This too shall pass, right?
Okay...Dan's pulling in the driveway with lunch. I must say I'm looking forward to stuffing my face...putting Dani down for her nap...and then taking a little snooze myself. I love Sundays!
We were supposed to go north this weekend for the annual company golf outing. BUT...We're staying home. Dani has been sickly for the past few days. We were hoping that she'd be better by now. She woke up again this morning with a fever...102.2 this time. So, I took her in. Doc said it could just be a cold...but it could something more, too. He's on call this weekend...and if she's not better by Saturday, he wants to see her again. Now, it's just a waiting game.
We had already made arrangements for Sydney to stay with friends for the weekend so that she wouldn't have to miss school. She'll have a fit if we cancel now. Billy would have missed school tomorrow...he'll have a fit because now he'll go. Oh well...sometimes life stinks!
Dani is napping right now. I wish I could say peacefully....but her fever still hasn't broke and she's tossing and turning a lot. Poor Baby :o(
It's almost noon and I should probably get a shower for the day. The doctor's office was able to get me in right away this morning so...baseball cap it was. He's lucky I at least brushed my teeth and put on a bra. I know once Dani wakes up she won't let me leave her side. So...I'd better run. I'll keep you posted on how she's feeling.
It's Tuesday night. Two of the 3 are in bed. Can you guess which one is still up??? Yes...The little Monster! She hasn't been feeling well....Picked up a cold from somewhere. So, her routine is a little off. She and Dan are lying (well, Dan's lying...Dani is jumping and jabbering) in bed watching TV. I'm taking advantage of the few minutes away to say "Hi" to you all.
We will be going up north to Dennis and Kathy's place in Hayward for the weekend. It's the annual company golf outing weekend. Unfortunatley, the weather doesn't look so nice. I don't care what anybody says...Golfing in the cold and rain is no fun!!
Hopefully after this weekend things will slow down for us a little bit.
For those of you that haven't heard...my sister, Heather, found out last week that they're having a boy!!! I'm so excited for them!!
Other than that...not much really to speak of. So, I'm off to bed. Talk to you soon......
Well...All the kids are in bed. Normally by this time...I'm not far behind. But usually it's because Dan's in bed too...watching some boring show or ball game.
I think that's my favorite part of the day. Cheesy...I know! After a long day...crawling under the comforter...snuggling up next to Dan...until I fall asleep. Ahhh........Of course, then, he pushes me away when I either start snoring or drooling on him. :o) It's all good!
So, tonight I'm a little lonely and sad. Dan and a few of his buddies are taking the RV up north for a long weekend. Gonna do a little camping, fishing, golfing, whatever it is that guys do. They left tonight at about 6pm. He'll be home on Sunday.
After going to the grocery store to stock up the RV, I spent the afternoon making some of his favorite yummies to take with... Antipasto, Scotcheroos, Muddy Buddies, and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. See what a good wife I am? :o)
So, since I was bored and didn't want to go to bed yet...I figured I'd blog a little. As you can see I've changed my background again. I still can't figure out why some people can leave comments and some can't, though. Oh well...
Okay...The kids have been up about 5 times...for one reason or another. I started this post an hour ago. I guess I'll call her quits and go on to bed. I am excited for tomorrow, though! Heather has her ultrasound and hopefully we'll see boy or girl parts :o) I can't wait!!!
Sydney and Billy had dentist appointments after school today....routine cleanings.
Billy...No cavities! WooHoo!! However....One of Billy's capped baby-molars is loose. It came as no surprise. When he got the caps, the dentist had to do a nerve treatment which practically kills the tooth. It's a baby tooth...and it would have eventually come out anyway....but probably not until 10 or 11 yrs-old. With this tooth coming out sooner, it means that the adult molar won't be there to take it's place for a while. So, when this tooth comes out, Dr. Allison will have to put in a "spacer" until the adult molar is ready to come it. She says it's no big deal...We'll see :o)
Sydney...No cavities!! Oh Yeah!! :o) However.... :o) All 4 of her baby molars are loose and all 4 of the new ones are already pushing up under them.
***Now might be a good time to remind you all of my "losing teeth phobia"...and how all of this makes me want to puke or pass out!!!
So...This poses a problem because she obviously can't brush her new, adult molars very well with the baby ones sitting on top. Dr. Allison has given her 1 week...yes...1 week to wriggle them out on her own...or with the help of Daddy (cuz Lord knows I'm not touching them). OR...the dentist will have to pull them!!!! She has an appointment scheduled for next Wednesday at 3pm. Okay...I will NOT be taking her to THAT appointment!!!
I'll keep you posted :o)
This afternoon Dan and I went over to his mom's to help her with some yard work. They are out of town so much that she was very frustrated and overwhelmed with all that needed to be done. Mostly pulling weeds but she decided that maybe a rather ugly pine tree at the edge of the pond could come down. It really was an eye-sore and by cutting down the tree, it would leave a much better view of the waterfall in their pond. So, Dan ran to get his chainsaw, came back, and started cutting it down. I was pulling weeds along the edge of the upper pond when, all of a sudden, I heard him yelling and saw him running. At first, I thought he'd cut himself...but he jumped in the pond. Then, I thought he'd burnt himself on the chainsaw's motor and needed cold water. (Like when Donald Duck burns his tail-feathers and sits in the water to put out the fire.) Then I realized that Kathy was screaming "BEES!!!" Dan was flopping around in the pond and ripping his shirt and waders off. I went running towards him...still hind of unsure what had happened. He yelled at me to "Stay back." He finally climbed out of the pond. He had been stung at least 25 times! He took a couple of Benadryl and called the doctor. He's fine...he felt good enough go go to his Wednesday night bowling league. Now he's just really itchy and his wrist is pretty swollen and he feels kind of achy. Poor Baby...I'm just thankful that he didn't have a bad reaction...and even more thankful that it wasn't one of the kids.
What a beautiful weekend we had!!! We went to Door County for Dan's cousin's wedding. Door County is that little tip of Wisconsin that sticks up in between Green Bay and Lake Michigan. We drove up late Thursday night...a 3 1/2 hour drive.
Friday morning we headed into Bailey's Harbor for breakfast. I had to try the Michigan blueberry pancakes...one pancake was overlapping the edges of my platter. It was sooooo good, though. Billy had crepes for the first time...covered in Door County cherry sauce. They were really good too. We drove through town to do some sightseeing....There was a restaurant that had goats on the roof!!! It was the funniest thing!
Then we dropped Dan off at the golf course and the kids and I spent the day at the pool and on the shores of Lake Michigan. When Dan was finished golfing, we went to the marina and rented a pontoon boat for a few hours. The weather was PERFECT!!
Saturday morning we went to Fish Creek to do some shopping and we took a tour of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. It was very interesting. Another beautiful day!
Then it was time to get ready for the wedding. Alan and Kirsten were married at the Gordon Lodge on one of the buffs overlooking Lake Michigan. It was a GORGEOUS wedding!
Labor Day is always a little bitter-sweet for me. To me, it's the end of summer and, for us Northerners, means that cooler weather is on its way. I'm not ready for that! Leaves are already changing and the mornings are cool enough that I'm sending jackets or sweatshirts to school with the kids. Unbelievable! Oh well....
So we had our last horse show on Saturday. It was a small one and we actually missed Sydney's first two classes because we didn't get there in time. Billy won two 1st places in lead-line. Sydney didn't do very well in her walk-trot pleasure class but did better in her horsemanship class. (That's the one where she does the pattern.) She got a 2nd and a 3rd...I think. It was a fun day though. We took the RV and got to try out some of our new gear.
Sunday we didn't have much planned so we took advantage of the day and got some little things around the house done. We took Dani's crib down and put up her "big girl" bed. She really likes it. Her room looks so strange to me now, though.
Yesterday was AWESOME!! We had a babysitter come and Dan and I, his sister, Renee, and her husband, Brad went to the Brewers vs Cardinals game in Milwaukee. Thanks to some unused season tickets of the company's...We had lunch at the VIP club and had nice window seats to watch the first half of the game. Then we made our way down to our seats (which were fabulous) to see the rest of the game. We lost...but it was such a beautiful day and we were having so much fun that I didn't care. Then on our way home, we stopped at one of our favorite pizza places for dinner where we could sit up on the terrace and enjoy the view of the lake.
Okay...
I'm not really sure what is going on with my blog. When I try to add pictures, the layout of my page gets all screwed up. Maybe I'm trying to do too many at once?? I dunno.
Anyway....Today was Sydney and Billy's first REAL day of school. I forgot to take pictures. If they're not filthy by the end of the day I'll try to remember to do it after school.
Sydney started Middle School this year. She is excited. She seems to have her locker combination figured out. The changing classes and multiple teachers will be challenging I'm sure...but for now...she thinks it's fun. Her best friend has several classes with her, so that helps, too.
Billy is in first grade. We're looking forward to a great year. His teachers "job-share"...meaning that he has one teacher Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning...and then the other teacher comes in after lunch on Wednesday and all day Thursday and Friday. (Sydney had this in second grade and it worked fine. I just learned that whenever I emailed one teacher about something, to email them both. It helped keep everyone in the loop.)
So, It's just me and Dani today. Hopefully I'll get caught up on some house work.
